Confessions of a Young Professional + Life Lessons
The transition from college to adulthood is one of the most humbling experiences a person can undergo—though I may be biased in saying so. If I had to draw a comparison, I’d say it’s like a young girl going through puberty and experiencing her first menstruation. Why? Because both are often painful, uncomfortable, confusing, overwhelmingly underwhelming, frustrating, and every other emotion in between.
I’m here to share the challenges I’ve faced, the lessons I’ve learned, and those I’m still learning as I mature and navigate a workforce and world grappling with pandemics, epidemics, wars, genocides, lawlessness, and everything else that falls in between. While it may not be groundbreaking, the old proverb still rings true: “History tends to repeat itself.” And, in this cycle of repetition, one thing has undoubtedly reshaped the game—social media. It has transformed the landscape of information, censorship, socialization, and the ways we communicate with one another and with the media. I could not, not bring this up as a journalism and communications major.
